Write, Draw or Dance – Bathing Beauty in the time of Doris Hatt – Mel Simpson offers an open invitation to writers, artists, enthusiasts and the curious – dive in and explore the style of modernist Doris. Watch Mel live and spark your creativity (bring your own art materials). Want to dance instead? Join Mel online to throw some shapes in the privacy of your own living room – camera on or off – you decide! Workshop lasts about 50 minutes, at the end of which all come together and share. Suitable for all ages (12+) and all levels – complete beginner to highly accomplished.

Kev’s Children’s Comic Art Masterclass – Kev F Sutherland invented the superhero Captain Clevedon and writes and draws for Beano, Dr Who and Marvel Comics. He also makes graphic novels adapted from Shakespeare. Kev teaches you how easy it is. Everyone leaves the Masterclass with a comic strip plus a personal caricature created by Kev. Come and learn everything he knows, and you could leave school and steal his job!

Launch event of More than Words Open Short Story and Poetry Competitions – More than Words launches its first annual open short story and poetry competitions, with separate competitions for under-18s and adults in both categories, and cash prizes for each one. Full details of the rules, closing dates and prizes will be posted to our website ahead of the Festival. The official launch event features local poets performing alongside invited special guests.
